The
Festival Mechanics:
Urduja Film Festival is an annual undertaking to promote independent
Films in Luzon: Region 1, 2, CAR. and NE. It envisioned to hone the
artistic and creative minds of the people and the populace in the make-believe
artistry of the celluloid world.
The 6th Edition URDUJA FILM FESTIVAL will be a 3 week
event including the Film Showing and Awarding: Festival Date is set on the 4th Week
of September in Cinemas at respective locations (SM Cinemas and Robinsons Movie
World). Awarding will be on 2nd week of October, 2019.
Festival Competition Categories:
College Category - Open to all College
Students in Region 1, 2, 3 and CAR
Theme: open Film Time Duration: 10 to 30 minutes
HS Category - Open to all HS students in
Region 1,2,3 &CAR
Theme: Open Film Time Duration: 10 to 25 minutes
Open Film Category -
Short films from amateur and professional filmmakers. Film
length:5-30mins
MTV Category - Open for HS and College Students. Music
video length: 3-5 minutes.
Mainstream Films - All Philippine Full length
Feature Films shown in 2018 are automatically qualified for
consideration
for the 6th Urduja Heritage Film Awards.
International Films
- Invitational for
international filmmakers.
Call
for Short Film Entries:
Inviting all student film enthusiasts in Region 1, 2, 3 and CAR. Final
date of submission of entries must be before SEPTEMBER 7, 2019 the
earlier the better in order to get film ratings from MTRCB and FDCP. Entry

There is no entry Fee.
Who
can Join?
College Students: Students or student org, or teachers can submit entries, endorsed by
Instructor, Adviser, or the Dean.
High School Students: Students and teachers, duly endorsed by the Principal.
Professional and Amateur Filmmakers: for the Open Film Category.
International Filmmakers: invitational
Theme
of the Film:
Theme or the Story Line is open and universal for the 6th Edition,
but we strongly suggest promotion of your culture and heritage around your
story. Socially relevant film is strongly encouraged. Films with Good moral,
Christian values is strongly likewise encouraged. Use of extreme
violence, blood, nudity and love scenes in your film is allowed in the College
category Only as this may affect classification rating of MTRCB thus limiting
your audience. hence R16 or R17 is the maximum rating allowed for the College
category; PG or R13 or R15 for the HS Category.
Language
Use:
This year, Priority will be the use of North Luzon
Vernacular Language (Pangasinan, Ilocano, Kapampangan, Ibanag, Ifugao, etc.) or
mix with Tagalog or English.
English or Filipino SUBTITLE is required for use of
vernacular language.
Silent film is also acceptable.
Camera
requirements:
Student Film entries can be shoot using smart phones or tablets or
videocam or DLSR cameras. Black and White film is accepted. Submission of
media must be in usb: MP4 Format or DCP format.
How
many films can a School submit.
For Junior & Senior High School: Maximum of 2
Films.
For College: Maximum of 2 Films.
For MTV: 1 per school
For Open Films: no limit
For International Films: invitational
Who
are qualified for the Awards.
Students and Teachers are qualified in the film awards. Students are
qualified to all nominations. Instructors or teachers or academic staff can act
in the film and can qualify as senior actors nominee. Instructors and teachers
can participate in the film as actors, directors and can also
assist/help/advise in all aspect of film making. Different awards will be given
at the Awards night, eg. Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Sound, Best
Screenplay, Best Actor and Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Actress, Best
Child Actors and Actresses, etc.
Prizes
and Awards:
Cash Price of P10,000.00 will be given to winner of the URDUJA CUP or
the Overall Best Festival Film (URDUJA CUP). NORA AUNOR EXCELLENCE AWARD FOR
FILM for The Best Socially Relevant Short Film will receive P1,000.00, DOVE EXCELLENCE AWARD for
promoting Christian Values – P1,000.00, HERITAGE FILM AWARD for promoting
Filipino Heritage Advocacy Cinemas – P1,000.00, Best Short Movie College
Category – P5,000.00, 2nd Place Best Short Movie College –
P2,000 and 3rd Place Best Movie College – P1000; and Best
Short Movie High School Category – P5,000.00, 2nd Place Best
Short Movie HS – P2,000 and 3rd Place Best Movie HS –
P1000 . Trophies and Plaques Recognition are given to Acting
honours and Technical honours.
Deadline
of Submission of Entries:
Please submit entry form duly
endorsed, and 2 USB copies of the film: 1 usb copy in MP4 for MTRCB copy;
And 1 usb copy format for Cinema copy, on or before September 8, 2019.

Festival
Film Showing Requirements (For Student Films):
Film Showing will be on the 4th Week of September
at Cinemas in Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos, Cabanatuan, Pampanga, Olongapo and
Baguio.
Students are advised to support their film entries by
watching the film in respective Cinema schedules. Each School/Entry
must be able to Guarantee a minimum of one (1) block theater screening.
Robinsons Cinema – 250 Seats (1) guaranteed Screening
SM Cinema,400
to 450 seats is (1) guaranteed Screening
(Note: Guaranteed screening indicates tickets for a particular block is considered sold.)
Tickets at P200.00/seat and will be
based on the following sharing: 50-50 Sharing (50% goes to the School or
Student Group who made the film; and 50% to organizers to cover cinema, awards, prizes and other admin expenses) Choice of Screening day and time will be based
on first come- first served basis. Guaranteed screening means tickets for a
particular block is considered sold, no ticket return is allowed. After viewing their respective films, students
can view one more film from other entries, as double. Open Indie Films in the amateur competition can also
be viewed as a double.
MTV : A Music
Video Category
Students can also submit Music
Video of any original composition for the Best MTV Competition. The music video should depict a simple story
or situation or advocacy. The MTV could
also be a trailer of a film in competition. Theme is open.
The Video should have a minimum 3 minutes and maximum 7 minutes running
time. Open for high school and college category. Awards includes Best MTV, Best Original Composition,
Best Interpreter, Best Acting ensemble
for MTV and Best Director for MTV.
International Category:
Submission of entries for the international category will be on Sept 20. Filmmakers from countries other than the Philippines may submit their film using VIMEO or YOUTUBE to email: urdujafilmfestival@gmail.com with subject "international competition"

Jury:
Most of the Festival members of
the Jury will come from the academe, and practitioners, and critics from the
Indie films.
Award
Nights:
Awards night ceremonies will
be on October 15, 2019 at the Sison Auditorium, Lingayen Pangasinan (date
and time to be announced).
