Announcing the Call for Entries for the 3rd Edition URDUJA FILM FESTIVAL 2016

Call for Short Film Entries:
Inviting all student film enthusiasts in Region 1 and CAR. Final date of submission of entries is until NOVEMBER 19, 2016 the earlier the better. Entry Forms with rules and criteria are available upon request to urdujafilmfestival@gmail.com  
There is no entry Fee.

Festival Competition Categories:
COLLEGE CATEGORY: Open to all bonafide students of any Colleges and Universities in Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and Benguet, Other provinces from northern Luzon are also welcome to join like Abra, Ifugao, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Ecija and Nueva Viscaya.
Theme: open              Film Time Duration: 16 to 40 minutes
             HIGH SCHOOL CATEGORY: Open to all bonafide HS and students in Pangasinan, Ilocos, La Union and Benguet. Other provinces from northern Luzon are also welcome to join like Abra, Ifugao, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Ecija and Nueva Viscaya.

             Theme: Open             Film Time Duration: 16 to 30 minutes
             INDEPENDENT FILMS: Invitational Only, for amateurs/hobbyist (special selection)  

Who can Join?
College Students. Students or student org, or teachers can submit entries, endorsed by Instructor, Adviser, or the Dean.
High School Students: Students and teachers, duly endorsed by the Principal.

Theme of the Film:
Theme or the Story Line is still OPEN for the 3rd Edition, but we strongly suggest promotion of your culture and heritage around your story. Socially relevant film is encouraged. Films with Good moral, Christian values is strongly likewise encourage.  Use of over-violence, nudity and drug-use in your film should be self restricted (especially for HS category) and subject to MTRCB Classification.

Language Use:
Tagalog, English or Tag-lish. Full pangasinense or full ilokano vercular film is acceptable. Silent film is also acceptable. For Full Ilocano or Pangasinan movie, a Tagalog or English SUBTITLE is Required.

Camera requirements:
Student Film entries can be shoot using smart phones or tablets or videocam or DLSR cameras as long as it is converted in DVD format for wide cinema viewing. Black and White film is accepted.

How many films can a School submit.
For High School: Maximum of 2 Films. Drama, Comedy or Combination.
For College: Maximum of 2 Films. Drama, Comedy or Combination.

Who are qualified for the Awards.
Students and Teachers are qualified in the film awards. Students are qualified to all nominations. Instructors or teachers or academic staff can act in the film and can qualify as senior actors nominee. Instructors and teachers can participate in the film as actors, directors and can also assist/help/advise in all aspect of film making. Guest actors and technical film staff can also be qualified for awards upon descretion of the awards committee. Different awards will be given at the Awards night, eg. Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Sound, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Actress, Best Child Actors and Actresses, etc.

Prizes and Awards:
Trophies, Plaques and Cash Price of P10,000.00 will be given to winner of the URDUJA CUP or the Overall Best Festival Film (URDUJA CUP). NORA AUNOR AWARD for Best Socially Relevant Short Film will receive P1,000.00, YMASA AWARD for Gender Sensitive Film – P1,000.00, DOVE EXCELLENCE AWARD for promoting Christian Values – P1,000.00, HERITAGE FILM AWARD for promoting Filipino Heritage Advocacy Cinemas – P1,000.00, Best Short Movie College Category – P3,500.00, and Best Short Movie High School Category – P3,500.00 Trophies and Plaques Recognition are given to Acting honours and Technical honours.

Deadline of Submission of Entries:
Please submit entry form duly endorsed, and 2 copies of the film converted into DVD format, and a USB copy, on or before  November 16, 2015.

Festival Film Showing Requirements:
Film Showing will be on the 4th Week of November at Cinemas in Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos and Baguio.
Students are advised to support their film entries by watching the film in respective Cinema schedules. Each School/Entry must be able to a guarantee a minimum of one (1) block theatre screening.

Robinsons Cinema (Movieworld Calasiao & Laoag) – 250 Seats (1) guaranteed Screening
SM Cinemas (SM Baguio & SM Rosales) - 400 seats is (1) guaranteed Screening

Tickets at P200.00/seat and will be based on the following sharing: 50-50 Sharing (50% goes to the School or Student Group who made the film and 50% to organizers to cover cinema, mtrcb, and admin expenses.) Choice of Screening day and time will be based on first come- first served basis.
            After viewing their respective films, students can view one more student film of their choice in the competition,
             as a double.
Open Indie Films in the amateur competition can also be viewed.

Emblem:
           To be placed at the beginning of film credits. To be placed in posters, and other promotional materials.






Festival Jury:
Festival Head of Jury will be critics both from the indie and mainstream. Other Festival members of the Jury will also be announced later.

Award Nights:
Awards night ceremonies will be on  December 1, 2016 at the Sison Auditorium, Lingayen Pangasinan .
